Crossbowmen are the first upgrade of basic Archers. They can be upgraded in the Archery Range upon reaching the Castle Age. The Crossbowman has a greater attack and a longer range than Archers. Crossbowmen are extremely effective against Feudal Age units and units with low Pierce Armor, making them a great all-purpose unit. However, Castle Age Mangonels can be quite devastating against groups of Crossbowmen.
