The Eagle Warrior is unique to the two Meso-American Civilizations, the Aztecs and the Mayans. Trained in the Barracks beginning in the Castle Age, Eagle Warriors attempt to compensate for the lack of Cavalry. Meso-American Civilizations begin with an Eagle Warrior instead of a scout as well. Eagle Warriors are relatively weak for a Castle Age unit and also very expensive so they see very little use in the Castle Age. However, Elite Eagle Warriors are one of the strongest units in the game and are nearly invincible against archer armies. Gunpowder units, Cavaliers or Paladins, and Champions counter Eagle Warriors, but even then the Elite Eagles are a tough unit to beat. If gold is available in mass quantities, Eagle Warriors are very powerful.
